Are you feeling tight and restricted in your upper back? This Vinyasa Yoga class by Carole at Living Lotus Online is designed to help you open up your thoracic spine and improve mobility. By incorporating a variety of flowing sequences, this class targets different muscle groups while gently stretching your chest.

The class begins with a relaxing supported child’s pose, followed by gentle head rotations to warm up your neck and upper back. Next, you’ll transition to cat-cow exercises, focusing on spinal articulation and active movement in your upper back. Seated arm stretches with blocks follow, targeting your chest and arms.

Moving into extended puppy pose, you’ll deepen your back and chest stretch, followed by shoulder dips for added mobility. Downward-facing dog and plank variations will then strengthen your core and stabilize your spine. Warrior poses, incorporating twists and lunges, challenge your balance and stretch your sides.

Triangle pose variations with blocks offer deeper stretches, while half moon pose with a block works on core strength, balance, and shoulder mobility. Forward folds and plank variations further strengthen your core and lengthen your spine. Supine spinal release with arm lifts helps release tension and improve mobility in your upper back and shoulders.

Squats and camel pose variations open your chest and strengthen your back muscles, while side plank variations challenge your core and obliques. Standing side stretches and eagle pose variations stretch your sides and improve balance. Finally, a supported yoga squat with twists offers a final opportunity to stretch your spine and release tension.

The class concludes with a well-deserved relaxation in savasana (corpse pose).
